The central aim of our research activities is to generate new insights in the field of tourism management and build on that to intensify the knowledge transfer between science and economy. We consider the object of research “Tourism” primarily from an economic point of view but also include interdisciplinary perspectives. To date our activities have focused on the following fields of research:

  • Senior- and Health Tourism
  • Technology-orientated Tourism Projects
  • Chinatourism
  • Nature- and Culture-Tourism
  • Quality and Qualification in Tourism

The research activities of the IMT have the dual purpose of academic research and influence of the development of regional and state economy, combining theory and practice, as well as considering global requirements for the interface between science and practice. Our research aims to support the local tourism industry, incorporating global insights gained through participation in international research activities.
